I didn't not like this book but I had trouble paying attention to the audio book and I guarantee its not one I'll remember much about. A fun fantasy for younger teens that they can easily get involved with. This is the story of Jacob Reckless. Who has the ability to go through his fathers portal ...

Sorry, I loved Cornelia Funke's Thief Lord, Dragon Rider, and Inkheart series, but this book really takes the cake. In a bad way.THE GOODWorld building. Ms. Funke seems to be a master at this one. I don’t think I’d leave my family in the dust if I ever encounter a magical mirror such as Jacob’s, but...

It's a little heartbreaking to give a Cornelia Funke book such a low rating. Though the Mirrorworld is certainly intriguing, the characters don't feel entirely fleshed out, and the plot rushes by at such a pace that it is all to easy to lose your bearing. The writing has none of the fluidity of the ...

I loved Cornelia Funke's Inkheart books, but her others don't seem to live up to that rich, detailed, living world she created. This is a good book, just not necessarily a great one.

2.5 starsReckless takes after its name, with one brief chapter to set up the concept of a mirror world and the two protagonists, the real story starts in medias res, with Jacob reacting to his little brother, Will, turning into stone from a strange fairy curse. The story is breakneck, with short cha...

I was lent a copy of this book by my brother's girlfriend and I found myself excited to start it.However, I only managed to read about 100 pages before giving up on it. It was too rushed, too confusing and very irritating. It wasn't developed properly and I hadn't a clue what was going on when readi...

Once in a while, you read a fantasy book so engrossing, so enthralling, so captivating, that it restores your faith in the genre. Funke's book Reckless did that for me. After reading a TON of lackluster books (many DNF) labeled YA fantasy, this book lived up to the label. Loved the characters, l...

2.5 stars.I really liked the idea and concept of this book. Very interesting and original. Sometimes it could be a little confusing as to what exactly was going on with the Goyl but that was okay. I couldn't really respect Jacob as a character because, well, he got around if you get my drift. But ov...

2.5 starsVery interesting concept and base characters, neither of which was explored as thoroughly as they deserved. The characterization, background, motivations and interaction of the characters, which begged for a rich and deep treatment, was scant. As a reader, you only ever scratched the barest...
