What the hell did I just read? This is one of those "so bad it's good" books.I wanted to DNF it a lot because Lee is like, super inept. This is a pretty good example of her:I studied some maps of Middle Reach and the surrounding areas, just because I thought I should. I didn’t know what I was lookin...
Don't be fooled by the insipid cover - this is a well written series. Great premise of a world afflicted by natural disasters, which can only be averted by A Pair (Source and Shield) who have complimenting psychic powers, who once matched by magic must work and spend most of their lives bonded toge...
Lord Shintaro Karish is a hunk, a member of the aristocracy and a very powerful source. In fact he's powerful enough to be a major force in the future of this planet. Dunleavy Mallorough is a shield, she's what enables sources to function without burning up, but they have lesser station than the s...
3.5 stars. Overall a pleasant and fun story to read. Don't let the cover scare you away, even though it's probably one of the worst I've ever seen in the fantasy genre, as far as published novels go.I liked the concept of Source & Shield, the role they must fulfil in order to protect people from cat...
With magic, mystery and lots of adventures + great dialogue + a loveable and witty heroine, who could ask for me?Well, I would love more romance actually. There's almost none, and that's a picty because the main characters are too cute for words! :)
It was a fun book. I found the main female character a bit of annoying, assuming things that weren't and not guessing things that were too obvious. But it was a interesting story about the Shields and Sources. I wouldn't read again though. Ridiculous cover, btw.
he cover led me to expect a different book (the cover is sunny; the book is not) but once I got over that, I enjoyed this one a lot. The worldbuilding was interesting and the relationship between the two main characters was unusual enough to be fun. [Oct. 2011]
I enjoyed this book on a couple of levels. Moore does a wonderful job with the two main characters, creating believable personality conflicts and bringing both of them around to the reveal without undue angst or artificial situations. I look forward to reading more about Taro and Lee's developing...
