Since 1999, I have been Dean of University Libraries at Marx Library, University of South Alabama in Mobile. Prior to this, I was Director of Library Services at Sam Houston State University (1990 - 1999)in Huntsville, TX, and The Citadel (1986 - 1990) in Charleston, SC. I began my full-time, academic library career at Slippery Rock State University of Pennsylvania (1971 - 1986) after a short stint with Erie County Public Library as director of the Millcreek Branch in Erie, PA (1970 - 1971). During my career, I have written many articles for newsletters, newspapers, and library journals. My first book, co-authored with Katina Strauch at the College of Charleston was about the RLG Conspectus in 1992. Since then, I have co-authored a number of other books on government documents, collection development, and stress tests with publishers such as Libraries Unlimited, Scarecrow Press, and Infosential Press, a company I started in 1997 (ended in 2012). The latest books on art and architecture came about after my brother Roger died of cancer in 1996. I had promised him then that I would someday finish them, as well as publish those books to recognize his intellectual contributions to the field. This was accomplished by using Amazon's publishing company in 2014.
