Richard L. Currier earned his BA and PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley and conducted ethnographic field research for his doctorate on the Greek island of Ios in the Southern Cyclades, where he spent fifteen months studying patterns of social interaction in traditional Greek island society. As an Instructor in Anthropology at U.C. Berkeley and a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota, and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Currier taught introductory courses in both physical and cultural anthropology as well as upper division courses in cultures of contemporary Latin America, cultures of the Mediterranean, cultures of Mesoamerica, human evolution, peasant societies, primate social behavior, religion and culture, sexuality and culture, and world ethnography. A pioneer in the design and development of interactive learning technologies, Dr. Currier has won numerous awards for his work. A native New Yorker, Richard Currier lives in Oceanside, California.
