A lot of humor in this book. Weird characters (the pirates have no actual names), weird situations and even more strange conversations.Into a quick, funny and easy read? Then give this book a try.
Not nearly as funny as I had hoped it would be....
Ah, the Pirates. This book, a follow up to The Pirates! In an Adventure with the Scientists! is about as awesome as the title implies. Which is to say, extremely awesome. But maybe I'm just saying that because I have a crush on the Pirate Captain, especially when he is trying to become a beekeeper.
I would say "like Monty Python in book form" except that that would shortchange Defoe's own creativity.
I loved these books. They're witty and silly and really easy to read in about one sitting, if you read like I do. There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments and quote-worthy phrases.
I love the pirates, especially Jennifer. I wasn't complaining about the lack of women pirates before, but I'm delighted she was added.
I think the Pirates! are hilarious. Pairing up the Pirates! with Karl Marx is genius.
