Richard Shoup (1946-Present) was born in Butler, Pennsylvania. After college he trained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church at Yale Divinity School. At his first church he was a minister of music, playing the organ and directing the choirs. He then got interested in depth psychology and entered a residency in Pastoral Counseling at Blanton-Peale Graduate Institue in New York City. Since then he has had a private practice at The Madison Avenue Presbyterian church, and has been the Executive Director of The Counseling Center, Inc. in Bronxville, New York. His first book is entitled, Take Control of Your Life (McGraw-Hill), and involes the process of getting ourselves in tune with the universe and the fateful events that happen to us. His second book, written with colleagues Nina Frost and Ken Ruge, is "Soul-Mapping"
