Richard Toronto is the author of War Over Lemuria: Richard Shaver, Ray Palmer and the Strangest Chapter of 1940s Science Fiction, a comprehensive, thoroughly annotated true story of two of the most controversial figures in 20th Century Science Fiction: Raymond A. Palmer and Richard S. Shaver. Toronto and Shaver were correspondents during the early 1970s. In 1975 they agreed to co-author a book on Shaver's life. As it happened, Shaver died that same year and Shaver's biography floundered until 2013 and the release of War Over Lemuria. The sequel, Shaverology: a Shaver Mystery Home Companion, is available under the Shavertron Press imprint from Amazon.com, as well as Rokfogo, the Mysterious Pre-Deluge Art of Richard S. Shaver (vols. 1 and 2), and the complete run of the original Shavertron fanzine, reprinted in four volumes. Toronto is a California native, a former newspaper reporter, and taught photography to patients at Napa State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. He has been editor of Shavertron, "The Only Source of Post-Deluge Shaverania" since 1979. It is now an e-zine.
