This collection of three stories (novellas) shows a range of subject, but the single hand of a strong writer. I'll be reading more by Bass.
Does this fall into some sort of nature literature? Maybe. A lot of narrative about the ecosystem and geology. Compelling characters and well-written.
I learned quite a bit about the geography of the Brooks Range and got a totally unrealistic impression of what is physically possible.
