My impressions If a novel is described as “vampiric, postpunk, metal-fanged, dark-doomed romance at its best” it makes me interested almost despite myself. I grant it - Golgotham is a very original setting. So original, in fact, that it overshadowed a bit the main characters and the action; mind yo...

Not impressed with this one at all. First in a new series. I found the world building to be very confusing and the writing aimed to a younger audience. Actually have found YA books that are more sophisticated. Will not be following this series.

The writing felt awkward and a bit amateurish. So pass.

review posted at Alternative read.comMore like a 3,75It was just something about the style of this book that made me fall for it. It is urban fantasy, but different than the rest because the heroine is not kick-ass. Instead the whole tone feels real as she explores a world she has not entered befo...

Rather average urban fantasy/paranormal with dose of romance. Interesting world, but not terribly fleshed out and the characters did not interest really. A bit boring and would not recommend.

I really like the world Collins created, and enjoyed the characters as well. I debated 3.5 or 4 stars, but went with 4 because of the world. The relationship between Hexe and Tate surprised me...it seemed too strong too suddenly at the end of the book. I also felt like Hexe was still too much of ...

At page 59: I intensely dislike Tate and I've hardly even started the book. Let me count the reasons why. 1. She's "independent" from her parents, wanting to sell her art. She's made disparaging comments about growing up stinking rich, expected to marry a stinking rich man and have stinking rich ch...

This was between 2 and 3 stars for me, but the end picked up enough that I gave it 3. It started off well - you are just dropped into the magic part (a NYC neighborhood inhabited by warlocks, centaurs, etc), and you learn about it as the MC does (a regular human). The MC has no powers of her own, ot...
