An entertaining read although not a brilliant one. I may have too high hopes for Wodehouse in general. Part of the problem may have lain in the fact that throughout the book, Bertie insists on attempting to puzzle out solutions to the various problems himself rather than rely on Jeeves. Mild sp...
The funniest one I've read so far. Bertie tries to amend the problems of two couples + his aunt's problem, without the help of Jeeves. He says Jeeves is not as good as he used to be, and he (Bertie) is very smart and can do all by himself. Problem is, he gets into more awkward situations while tryin...

I submit that there is very little in literature funnier than Gussie Fink-Nottle attempting to give away the prizes to the boys at the Market Snodsbury Grammar School, and thus blowing it with The Bassett. How I love this book.
3.5This was my second book by PG Wodehouse. But I really didn’t enjoy as much as I thought I would, considering the rating and the reviews. Somehow I felt if I would have started with the first book in the series it would have made some difference to me, as I had no idea about who Jeeves or Wooster ...
This is a mildly amusing "comedy of manners" (for lack of a better term). It has dated a lot, as comedy - both written and live - has moved past these conventions some time ago. It's still got it's funny moments, but most of it reeks of the "I know this is humourous, but I'm not laughing" type stuff...
First, though possibly not foremost, how can you not love an author named Pelham Grenville? In a world of Tonys and Chrises and Ryans, you have to admit that a name such as that inspires a certain confidence in one's authorial voice.Otherwise, it's a typically wonderful Wodehouse novel, with Bertram...

Typical Wodehouse, amusing but shallow. It's got for an escape now and again, but there's little insight into the human condition. That wasn't Wodehouse's purpose.
The 2012 re-readGussie Fink-Nottle is in love with Madeline Bassett but can't seem to talk to her. Madeline Bassett is in love with Gussie Fink-Nottle but thinks Bertie Wooster wants to marry her. Bertie's cousin Angela was engaged to Tuppy Glossop but they had a bust-up over whether or not Angela...
