I’m not sure where to begin and what else I can say that I didn’t rave about in the first book. I liked The Emerald Storm much better than the later half of Nyphron Rising. It wasn’t that the first sub-book in Rise of Empire was bad, I just liked the pacing of the second. I admit, I did start skim...

After a series of major changes in the last book(s), Royce and Hadrian are still pretty much themselves, though grimmer and more exhausted versions of themselves. Both are still working for the Melengar royal family, still sent on dubious quests to save the kingdom while subverting the Nyphron Empir...

This is the second book in the Riyria Revelations and it picks up where the first story left off. I would highly recommend that you read the first book in the series before reading this one because the author doesn't fill the pages with much information about what happened in book 1, he just takes ...

I haven't changed my mind. The second installment (or third and fourth, depends) was even better then the first one. I liked the plot, the mitery - even if it's not complicated at all and the reader can easy figure it out. It's not about secrets or mysteries. It's about fun.4 stars.

Come to think of it, "Rise of Empire" is a pretty apt name for this middle omnibus. In the two books it contains, the bad guys increase in power and strength, gaining the upper hand while our heroes suffer several setbacks. I can't help but be reminded of the second movie of a certain sci-fi trilogy...

Giving up with this book for now, after struggling with it for almost six months. Hope to return to it at some point.

Rise of Empire was even better than Theft of Swords. There was more character development in this one and the plot became more twisted which all made for an even better read. I was pulled into the story immediately. There were so many characters that I loved. One in particular died and I was heartbr...

Great book! Wonderful continuation of the Riyria series, as well written as the first! Will definitely continue reading the series with the last book Heir of Novron

As far as recent fantasy titles go this is a fine fantasy novel. However as I was reminded in my literature tutorial today often novels can be caught up by their classification into certain genres. For instance I am often loathe to go near the genre of romance because of the amount of smut that I've...

Writing–I imagine–the second book of a trilogy (or in this case the third and fourth book of a six part series) is always more difficult than the first. At that point you know the characters and the world already, but there's always more under the surface that needs to come out and the exposure can'...
