RISING DARKNESS by Thea Harrison is the first book the GAME OF SHADOWS series. It tells the story of Mary, an ER doctor whose life is pretty ordinary apart from her dreams. Then her path crosses Michael’s, and everything changes. RISING DARKNESS is a really interesting and enthralling read, but to...

In the hospital ER where she works, Mary is used to chaos. But lately, every aspect of her life seems adrift. She’s feeling disconnected from herself. Voices appear in her head. And the vivid, disturbing dreams she’s had all her life are becoming more intense. Then she meets Michael. He’s handsome, ...

Rising Darkness is not Paranormal Romance. Once you set your mind like that, like Karen Marie Moning's Fever series and Neil Gaiman's UF books, this book started slow but chock-full of character-building and world-building around it and romances is hardly in the agenda. The story possibly consisted ...

I don't think I'll continue with this series. It doesn't have the kick of Dragos and Pia's world, although its ideas are very original. It's their execution I'm having trouble with.

2,5 stars. It was a gripping read, and it was very well written. Why not more stars: because it is not very original - the plot felt similar to a few others, like J. R. Wards "Fallen Angels" series for example. And I loathe insta-love!

After enjoying Dragon Bound and Lord's Fall, this was kind of disappointing. Some reviews did warn about the new direction this series is taking, but it did not work for me. The language was too flowery in the description of ordinary objects and actions ("...fingers quested across her face..." - qu...

I’m being very generous with this rating. Rising Darkness was one of those books with an over complicated plot and a pretentious prose that seemed to shout “Look at me! Am I not clever?” The first half was maddening and boring by stages and I was tempted to dnf it many times. The second half was mor...

My Rating: 2.5 stars: Finished it - take it or leave it (C)Full Review: http://www.twimom227.com/2013/04/review-rising-darkness-by-thea-harrison.htmlRising Darkness unfolds slowly, giving the reader different point-of-views and sides to the same story. We learn about our heroine, Mary, our hero, Mic...

For anyone who picks up Rising Darkness expecting a similar tone or premise to Ms. Harrison’s Elder Races series, they will be in for a surprise. Rising Darkness creates a completely new Paranormal world in a story that I would classify more as an Urban Fantasy with romantic elements. Most of the ...

RISING DARKNESS melds the best of thrillers and fantasy to create a kaleidoscope of passion, adrenaline, and magic. Harrison is unmatched in her ability to breath new life into the familiar romantic genres, and her exploration of these cosmic soul-mates results in another gorgeously written relation...
