Rita Durrett is an Oklahoma native, born in Durant, Oklahoma. She is the oldest of four children born to Harold and Ruth Spoon. Rita graduated in the class of 1969 from Okmulgee High School. After graduation from Oklahoma State University, she began a teaching career that has spanned over 37 years. Rita's home is in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She has two sons and is grandmother to four young boys. She belongs to a cat named Mousey and has two big attack dogs that might lick an intruder to death but, as she says, wouldn't bite unless someone was getting between them and their food. Rita Durrett has published a young adult novel, 'Keeping Secrets', two twin, romantic mysteries, 'Smugglers in Paradise' and 'The Calypso Princess', a collection of short stories, 'Shades of Gray a Short Story Anthology', and a 'Memories and Meals with the Burnett Family' cookbook. All are available as ebooks and paperback on Amazon.com. Rita has two current projects. One is a young adult novel, 'Borrowed Time'. It is scheduled for release later this year. The second project is another young adult novel, 'Jade's Destiny'. It is the first of a three book series and will also be released this year.
