Mr. Nicholas was born in 1946 - the first year of the Baby Boomers. For most of his life, he lived in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts - Pittsfield, Richmond and Lenox. In 1968, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a BS in Mathematics. He served for two years in the Peace Corps in the Philippines from 1968-1970 teaching high school modern mathematics. His thought-provoking memoirs, 'Hey Joe'- Poems and Stories from the Peace Corps, draw the reader into his experiences. Later, he taught for eleven years and then became a computer programmer/analyst and eventually an MIS Director.Currently, Mr. Nicholas spends his winters in Florida and summers in upstate NY - with his 37-year-old African Gray Parrot, Little Pete. Besides writing, he enjoys playing piano and guitar as well as painting watercolors. He started writing poetry when he was in his early teens. You won't need a dictionary or an encyclopedia to comprehend his poems. They flow easily and allow the reader to "experience" what he felt at the time he wrote them. 'Shaker Lane' was described by a member of the Kindle Book Review Team as being "a novel in simple poems", one that you will not come away from unmoved. In 2014, he began developing an intriguing collection of short stories - The Legends Series. Each of the three he has written so far involves people whose lives are dramatically altered and enriched when they encounter 'entities' from various legends around the world. He also coauthored a science fiction crime novel, 'Mountain Rose'.
