Looks like this one is the last in this series, which is okay. It ended on a high note. I think this one was the best in this short-lived series. We get a little more insight into Liz's ex, Jarret, which was good. I still don't like her mom, but that's okay. Every series has to have an unlikeab...
I had no idea just how prejudice I am against L.A., Hollywood in particular, until reading this. The whole time I was grinding my teeth over the setting. Totally not the fault of the book. I just don't enjoy stories set in Hollywood. Still this was good, and I'll probably continue reading the series...
Ok, I really enjoyed this book, but I have to say the killer was screamingly obvious towards the end - like it could have ended several chapters sooner, but it seemed like the author had more to say so she kept her characters in a state of temporary stupidity until she was ready. Beyond that, a gr...
Liz’s father is a huge baseball fan, just not a Dodger baseball fan. His family finds the perfect way to celebrate his birthday when the Chicago Cubs (his favorite team) comes to town. It is not bad enough that Liz’s ex in on the mound for the Dodger’s but she looks over and sees her former best fri...
I started this book, got half-way through the first chapter and then put it down again for weeks. Can't really explain why, but when I picked it up again I was immediately absorbed in the story. While the basis of the plot centered on a Santaria hex, the investigation of the mystery really didn't ...
This was pretty good right up until the end and then it just....wasn't. Tied it all up way too abruptly, and though I liked Liz in the first book, in this one she just got on my nerves. Just seemed like this could have been so much better......and why is this woman so stupid about this wonderful m...
Paco and Lucia Rojas own the historic Botanica Rojos near MacArthur Park and are devout Santeria practitioners who mix up potions for many rituals like love, success and safety. They have gathered with their friends to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Lucia is also teaching Liz how to make ...
3.5 StarsEnjoyable first in series! There were a couple thing that annoyed me a little, but they're more personal dislikes then anything actually wrong with the book. First was the romance. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of the romance genre, but it bugs me that every cozy feels the need to have a...
Yet another first in a new series, and a really solid book. Liked the main character a lot. Her mother & her jerk-off cop brother I could do without. Good story with some good supernatural background. Look forward to the next one.
