I am Professor of International Relations in the Department of Government & Public Administration at the University of Macau (S.A.R.), China. Previously I taught at Brown University, the University of Iowa and from 2003 to 2013 at Oxford University, UK.My research interest lie in the areas of international relations theory, global governance and international and comparative political economy. In particular I am interested in the social relations of credit and debt, the social mechanisms comprising and impacting market rationality, the social character of money, and the social mechanisms by which asset bubbles develop and financial crisis result.
