Dr. Roger Whitson is Assistant Professor of Nineteenth Century British Literature and the Digital Humanities at Washington State University. His work focuses on the reception of nineteenth-century British literature and culture in digital and social media and bridges the digital humanities with networked ontologies found in object-oriented philosophy and actor network theory. He is also fascinated by the impact of technology on literary expression: from inventions like the telegraph and the railroad to the mass printing of popular ballads, lyrics, and serialized novels. Roger writes on his own blog (http://www.rogerwhitson.net), and has contributed articles for ProfHacker, TheProfessorisin, and The Chronicle for Higher Education. He loves reading comics, learning to code, and spending time with his two cats Buddha and Nemo.
