Ron Owens, aka Ronald J. Owens, was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada. His father was a Christian pastor who was active in establishing new churches, and as a result the family lived in several different places in the eastern Canadian provinces, before moving to Switzerland when Ron was in his mid-teens.Ron's early interests were largely in sport activities- primarily ice hockey and track. He excelled in both these sports and won considerable recognition for his achievements. He also loved music and after the family's move to Switzerland he had the opportunity to study voice with a renowned voice teacher. He also found personal expression through writing poetry.Returning to North America for college-level studies, he came to the USA, attended a Bible College while also taking private voice lessons at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. It was there he met his wife, Patricia. After completing a university degree in Louisiana and doing some graduate studies at the University of Texas, Ron and his wife became a musical team, traveling widely in North America and in many other countries. Ron's poetry writing developed and in addition to their musical performances and recordings he and Patricia began to compose Christian songs. They have numerous published songs and also some musicals which have been performed in the USA and in other countries.Ron has been frequently asked to serve as a Worship leader at various conferences and church services. His abilities in this area sparked the request from others that he teach on the subject of Worship, and this became the impetus for the first of his book writing projects: "Return To Worship: A God-Centered Approach". While traveling in Russia, Ron met a person who shared about the faith and life of her father, who was a gifted and famous violinist living during the Stalin era. The story so impacted him that Ron could not get it out of his heart and mind. This eventually resulted in his writing "They Could Not Stop The Music" --the first of several biographies that he has written. He is presently at work on additional book projects.
