This proposition player has become a whale. He's playing for the highest stakes he has ever been handed--human souls.I wasn't a big fan of this graphic novel. While the idea was very interesting, I didn't like the direction the story took or the main character much at all. Joe is a jerk, a lowlife, ...

Mostly outstanding, with what may be some of the best issues yet. The overarching story that was begun in the last collection is (mostly) resolved here. It does sort of tie into [b:Crisis on Infinite Earths|194479|Crisis on Infinite Earths|Marv Wolfman|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327906696s/194479...

I've heard very good things about Gail Simone's run on Wonder Woman, so I went in with high expectations. Luckily, I wasn't disappointed. Yay! This particular volume feels very exposition-y, and it bears remembering that this is right after the highly ill-advised Amazons Attack! storyline (which I a...

The story doesn't have a lot of substance but there is good humor and for Joker fans it's a must. Seeing all the "jokerized" villains is really cool, but there isn't a whole lot more to this than just Joker and his cronies vs. Bats and the JLA.. Gave 4 stars but more around a 3.5...

Sometimes I wonder what the writers of ongoing monthlies think when editorial decides that they need to shelve all of their storylines and characters and instead work on the yearly crossover event. In this case, Infinite Crisis. (Bits of this I've actually read two or three times, in Superman: Sacrf...

So I'm really not a Superman person, I'm just reading this because I'm trying to read up on the DC crossover events. I know that's like 50 trades, and I accept that I'm crazy for trying at this point. At any rate, Superman: Sacrifice was part of the buildup to Infinite Crisis. Unfortunately, I haven...

Drivel. Absolute, inane drivel. Seriously, how could you go so wrong. The idea was pretty solid for this story and it brought up an interesting question that Clark has never dealt with before: What do you do when Superman isn't the only one who's super any more? What happens to the identity and imag...

Summary: Wonder Woman makes friends with some sentient gorillas, fights to save her homeland from invading Nazi goons and her mother from the former members of the queen's personal guard, and faces off with a member of another DC franchise over the fate of the Khund.Verdict: Strangely bland.Yay!: Me...

Some interesting ideas are unfortunately transformed into mere backdrop as Chadwick has chosen to focus his uninspired writing on the group of all-too-familiar characters and their inane relationship to one another. In his introduction Chadwick claims that the first chapter is "underwritten," since ...

Good escapist fun. Not as gruesome as some readers here have suggested, but the book itself does have a label of "Suggested for Mature Readers." So if you are squeamish, maybe not for you. Overall, an entertaining little comic set during the Cold War era where an American detective and a Soviet sold...
