One of our children's librarians loves this series. She read all of them. Having read the first, I can see why. They're a good starter chapter book series with more substance than most. The 11-year-old liked these when she was younger.
If Calendar Mysteries is A to Z Mysteries for a younger audience, October Ogre is The Haunted Hotel for a younger audience. Once again, there's a spooky mystery at the Shangri-La Hotel in Green Lawn, and this time, Bradley, Brian, Nate, and Lucy are on the case instead of Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose. ...
September Sneakers is the ninth Calendar Mysteries book, and another that takes the focus away from monthly holidays--though it does deal with a September-specific theme, of course! In the story, the Hathaway, Pinto, Armstrong, and Duncan kids--along with the rest of Green Lawn--are going back to sc...
August Acrobat is the first Calendar Mysteries book in a while to come without a holiday theme, but it's an entertaining mystery nonetheless. It visits a setting the Green Lawn universe hasn't experienced yet: a circus. But this one, as the summary says, needs some help... mostly, it needs the help ...
With July Jitters, we're into the second half of the (expected) twelve-book run of the Calendar Mysteries series, and of course the story's about the Fourth of July/Independence Day. The story itself blends elements we've seen before in The Canary Caper--the missing pets--and March Mischief--the tow...
Continuing the theme of May Magic, June Jam has the Green Lawn gang--the Hathway, Pinto, and Duncan families--celebrating a less commonly written about holiday, Father's Day. Also like May, it focuses on the Pinto family--specifically Mr. Pinto this time--as the younger quartet of kids, Bradley, Bri...
May Magic, the fifth Calendar Mystery book, is a Mother's Day themed mystery aimed at a slightly younger audience than that of the A to Z Mysteries books this series spun-off from. As usual for the series, it's a really cute mystery shown through the eyes of very young protagonists--only around six ...
March Mischief is the third book in the Calendar Mysteries series, a short St. Patrick's Day-themed mystery about a missing statue. If you have a serious problem with the U.S. incarnation of St. Patrick's Day, it might not be for you; however, I think that it manages to dodge most of the things peop...
February Friend is the second Calendar Mysteries book, a quick and cute Valentine's Day story involving a mysterious bunny. Like its predecessor series, A to Z Mysteries, it's a book set in the fictional town of Green Lawn, a place where 1950s small town charm meets the modern world. There's really ...
January Joker is the first book of Ron Roy's Calendar Mysteries series, a spin-off of the A to Z Mysteries series. It takes place two years after that series, when the A to Z Mysteries kids have moved from fourth to sixth grade and their siblings, who star in this new series, have grown from prescho...
