I retired in 2006 from teaching at Michigan State University. The program I have participated in there since 1966 is an undergraduate program in integrative studies. Born and raised in Hibbing, Minnesota, I came to Michigan State after studying for my bachelor's degree at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, for my Master's degree at the Johns Hopkins University, and my Ph.D. degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In 1969 a colleague and I established the Michigan Institute of Existential Metapsychology; the primary way I have participated in it is by organizing and leading weekly seminar sessions and a week-long summer seminar at a resort in northern Minnesota.
