Ronald L. Mize was born (1970) and raised in North Denver, Colorado. He was trained as a journalist at the University of Colorado Boulder and went on to study Sociology at Colorado State University (M.A.) and University of Wisconsin-Madison (Ph.D.). He is associate professor of Language, Culture, and Society and Director of the Center on Latina/Latino Studies and Engagement (CL@SE) at Oregon State University. He previously taught at Humboldt State University, University of Saint Francis Fort Wayne, California State University San Marcos, University of California San Diego, University of Wisconsin Rock County, Southwestern College, Cornell University, and Colorado State University. He teaches in the areas of Race and Ethnicity, Social Inequalities, Latinos and the Law, Latino Communities, Social Theory, and Social Justice. He lives with his family (including his dog Isa and cat Alvin) in Portland, Oregon.
