Awkward Press marks Jeffrey Dinsmore's second foray into the world of fiction publishing. His first company, Brooklyn-based modern pulp publisher Contemporary Press, somehow managed to release 13 well-received novels before being crushed under the weight of gambling debts and unpaid parking tickets. Fearing for the safety of his loved ones, Mr. Dinsmore beat a hasty retreat to the West Coast, where he currently operates under the alias Thistletoe Pennyfeathers. Mr. Dinsmore is the author of two novels: the sci-fi detective spoof Johnny Astronaut (under the pseudonym Rory Carmichael), and I, An Actress: The Autobiography of Karen Jamey, an autobiography of an aging film star who does not really exist. His short fiction has appeared in the Danger City and Danger City II collections, both available from Contemporary Press. In addition to writing, Mr. Dinsmore also regularly showcases his semi-competent musical skills at clubs around the Los Angeles area. Under the name Jeffrey D., he's written and performed original music in the off-off Broadway shows Opelika, Christmas with the Flamingoes, and Manifest Destiny, produced by Les Freres Corbusiers.
