I really enjoyed this book. Thank you whoever recommended it because I loved it. I'm planning on reading more of the series. There are glimpses of a romance but who knows who the lucky guy is. Usually I want some sort of choice before books end, but it really didn't bother me that there wasn't. Can'...

I have never read a book written by Suzanne Johnson but it won't be my last. I'm almost sorry that I read this book because now I will have to get the rest of the series. It is an urban fantasy novel. I enjoyed following Drusilla's tale. I don't think that they should have killed off her father. I w...

New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina. Magic and wizards. Betrayals and gods. Historically undead pirates and ultra-modern guns. It’s not a surprise such an unholy mix resulted in a marvelously fresh urban fantasy novel. The protagonist Drusilla (I hate the name by the way) is a young wizard in Ne...

The best thing about this book was the build-up and aftermath of Katrina. I thought it was well done. The rest? Eh. The pacing was a bit slow, picking up more at the end. I don't think any of the main characters Drusilla (whoops! I mean DJ), Jake, and Alex were particularly memorable.

Royal Street is a very refreshing and enjoyable urban fantasy read. I was captivated by the sights and scenery of New Orleans, and the honest and enlightening perspective of the city during and after the Hurricane Katrina devastation. We did get refugees (both human and animal) from New Orleans ar...

Find more review at The Demon Librarian.Wizarding wizards! What a treat this was. I've had my eye on this series for a while now. Doesn't it have the most fabulous cover art? Thankfully, I found the inside of the book just as appealing as the outside. If you like any of the following in your urban fa...

See my review of this book, and many more, at Tales from the Great East Road. Drusilla Jaco, DJ to her friends, thought her job was hard – mixing potions, helping to guard New Orleans from supernatural creatures (including attractive undead pirates), and negotiating politics with the Elder wizards. ...

This is the first book in the Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson. This book has been on my radar for a while, but I just never found the right opportunity to really look into reading it. The book tour through Bewitching Book Tours finally gave me the incentive to read it. And I am...
