Ryan Dunlavey is the award winning cartoonist of Action Philosophers, The Comic Book History of Comics, Dirt Candy: A Cookbook and Li’l Classix. Ryan has created cartoons, illustrations, designs and animation for Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros, Scholastic, Random House, Hasbro, Fisher Price, The Children's Place, Dark Horse Comics, IDW, A&E, Comedy Central and his mom. He lives in New York City with graphic designer Liza Pagano and their two children.

What Perry Nodelman Is Reading, and Has Read.
As well as being occasionally witty and often cute about the life and work of philosophers, this series of comic-book-type intros does a surprisingly good job of getting across the central ideas of just about everyone from Plato to Derrida. I like it.

I think Action Philosophers hit its peak with the chapters on Marx and Wittgenstein. I love the idea of Marx explaining the struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie to a little boy like a character in a School House Rocks cartoon; and Wittgenstein stomping around perpetually pissed off ...
