I have to admit that I am a nosey person. That's why writing nonfiction books for children and teens fits me so well. I love discovering offbeat facts that other people don't know. After I graduated from the University of Missouri, I taught elementary school until my own children were born. I loved being home with babies, but found that my mind was becoming mushier than my children's oatmeal. I solved the problem by becoming a writer, first of magazine stories and articles, and finally books. I am now a grandmother, and still get excited about starting a new project.
