Saul Carliner is a Professor of Education at Concordia University in Montreal, where his research and teaching focus on the design of materials for learning and communication, the management of groups who produce these materials, and the transfer of research to practice. He also serves as Research Director for Lakewood Media and a consultant for organizations like the Bronx Zoo, Equitas, Lowe's, ST Microelectronics, Turkish Management Centre, and several government agencies.He is the author of over 200 publications, including 9 books, including the best selling Training Design Basics and award-winning Informal Learning Basics.He is a Certified Training and Development Professional, Fellow and chair of the Certification Steering Committee for the Institute for Performance and Learning (formerly Canadian Society for Training and Development), past editor of the IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, and a Fellow and past international president of the Society for Technical Communication. He is also president of Agence Ometz, an agency providing community, employment, and immigration services in Montreal. Carliner holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, University of Minnesota, and Georgia State University.
