With a major in astronomy and physics and a minor in classics from the University of California Berkeley, followed by a Ph. D. in chemical physics from Hunter College, Dr. Calvin has taught in a wide variety of settings, including the Hayden Planetarium, Lowell High School, Southern Connecticut State University, the University of San Francisco, Examkrackers, and through Mirare Services, an educational company he ran in the 1990's. He is currently a professor at Sarah Lawrence College, where he teaches innovative courses including Crazy Ideas in Physics, Rocket Science, and Steampunk Physics.
