Scott Kauffman graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and in the upper ten percent of his class from the Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, where he was a member of the Environmental Law Review and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Conflict of Laws. Following graduation, Scott tried dozens of criminal cases, first as an assistant state prosecutor and then as an assistant public defender. He earned an LL.M. degree in Transnational Business and Taxation in and an LL.M. in Taxation from McGeorge School of Law. Scott is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the California Bar Association and the Tax Law Section of the California Bar. In addition to California state courts, Scott is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, United States District Court for the Central District of California and the Northern District of California. His novel, In Deepest Consequences, was published in 2006 by Medallion Press, and he is the recipient of the 2010 Hackney Literary Award and the 2011 Mighty River Short Story Contest.
