Elena Baxter has magic hands, she can heal with them. She works as an unpaid volunteer in a hospital helping those who are very ill, getting no praise other than for her patience and dedication to her cause. She doesn't understand what she does and feels lost. Artur Loginov can see what has happe...
There are people who might look at you when you read a romance book and say, "Oh, a romance book." Somehow you feel as if you have to defend yourself as an intelligent human being. For those people who I would suggest read a romance book for the first time, I would sent them to any Marjorie M. Liu s...
So far, I'm liking this series. The plots are a little confusing - at least in the beginning, but the characters are interesting.
Comments: Even though I only just started this series, once I read the first book I knew it would become a favorite. In some ways, it reminds me of Nalini Singh's Psy-Changelings. There are shifters and there are psychics. If I had to compare Artur's talent to the Psy, I would say it comes close to ...
I liked this one even better than TIGER EYE, it was just so sweet to read Artur and Elena finding each other. The scene on the train was hot, hot, if only because of the people involved, and I thought the action was very well paced throughout. Can't wait to read my next Dirk & Steele!
I really liked this one but mostly I fell in love with the hero, Artur. What a great man! Clever, strong, decisive, dangerous but also deeply hurt and emotional; my favorite kind of guy! The PNR element is not focused on one ability; there are mind readers, telepaths, shape-shifters, magicians and s...
I can't say enough good things about this book. It was so unique and very intense. The characters are so real that they jump off the page at you, and their suffering palpable. The first book in the series, Tiger Eye was good enough that I knew I wanted to continue reading, but this book lit me on f...
The prose was overwraught and cliched, but what really put me off was the amount of rape, torture, assault and degradation in the first half of the book. However, that was a bit more balanced in the second half with other activity and a smidgeon of personal growth for the characters. I wish Liu had ...
Thrilling, but ...brutal. I do not know. I stopped after 174 pages. I could have read on. But I think the story is too cruel. No, ... I read a lot of stories with cruel characters in it. But ... well until page 170 there was nothing but experiments and pain inside this strange hospital which capture...
Elena and Arthur are a match made in heaven. I've just recently learned about the Dirk & Steele series and find it to be captivating. Ms. Liu is a nice new author to me.
