Shadowfell -- Juliet Marillier Book 1 in Shadowfell trilogy 2012 Release -- Knopf Books Young Adult, High Fantasy, Adventure, Magic, Romance I really wanted to love this book mainly because I love Juliet Marillier's writing style--her use of creative detail and lyrical narration has a sort of be...

I enjoyed Shadowfell. I liked the characters and the way the story progressed (most of it, anyway) and although there was a lot of detail, it seemed necessary, until the climax anyway. Shadowfell is the second book I've read by this author and just like the first, I absolutely loved it! It's a pretty standard fantasy, but there is just something about Juliet Marillier's writing style that I really love.

I think I've been spoiled by Juliet Marillier's earlier works, because as enchanting as Shadowfell is, and as thoroughly as it had reeled me in to the exclusion of all other things in my life, I still can't help thinking that it's missing something. I'm pretty sure that if some other author had writ...

I love Juliet Marillier books, but this book I just couldn't get into as much as previous ones Her books are normally slow paced, but Shadowfell seemed excruciatingly slow compared to others I read by her.The author knows how to weave a magical story without the plot being overtly about magic. It's ...
