I knew this would focus on Misty Knight going in, but I was hoping there would be more Daredevil anyway, especially given the cover which featured him as much as her. I don't feel like this shed any real new light on Misty, either, so it was overall not my favorite DD story by far...
This is a great reboot of Superman's origin. The artwork was outstanding and I loved the storyline, especially the new take on the destruction of Krypton. I'm looking forward to reading volumes 2 and 3.
Fills in the Aliens square on the DC Comic Book Bingo card This graphic novel is a one-off special from my favorite creators, J. Michael Stracynski (he also did that awesome Wonder Woman Odyssey series). It started off kind of slow and emo; it was a little too much Batman-dark for the character of...
This comic collection deals with a group of gamers playing a new game “Axcend” resulting in their avatars emerging into the real world with potentially disastrous results. Issues that emerge in the plot are bullying, betrayal, homosexuality and high school angst. Fights ensue as well as saving the w...
Oh, Hal Jordan. You and I have such a terrible relationship, and it was not improved by Rage of the Red Lanterns. To be sure, there is some interesting stuff here, including the birth of a new Corps. and the creation of a new division within the Green Lantern Corps. But the focus of the book - and...
This is another hit from Straczynski and crew. In spite of all the negative "emo" blowback, I rather like this characterization of Clark. This second volume confirms the fact that it's really nothing like what critics have been panning it for. Instead, it's a rather clever, subtle and faithful moder...
Since I was a young wiper-snapper I have been a fan of the Superman comics. I love all the different avenues Clark’s story has taken over the years “Doomsday: The Death Of Superman” was my favorite arc. The art on the cover was sick (meaning good) and the story of the man of steel dying to save us t...
Wow, what a chilling villain. First time I've been impressed with a Supes villain. I really like this Earth One Superman stuff! And I haaaaaaate Superman!
Don't listen to the reviews on this one. It's not terrible. From what I'd gathered, Straczynski and crew presented some emo-modernistic version of Superman with anger problems. There's nothing of the sort. Deep down there's not much different about our beloved Man of Steel. The changes to character ...
The actual storyline here is, frankly, kind of underwhelming. But there's some really good character work in these pages, which is why I can give it 3.5 stars, rounded up because I feel generous. Larfleeze is used in the least annoying way possible (as occasional comic relief), and Atrocitus has bee...
