I like writing a wide variety of materials and am always open to a new challenge. I've coauthored five books, all in the top 25% of sales in the published book market. The top-selling book sold over 30,000 copies. I'm currently enrolled in UCLA's Professional Program in Screenwriting for the 2013-2014 school year. I published my first paid article nearly 30 years ago; my first book 20 years ago (with coauthor John Schroeder). I've written and published over 60 articles for business, nonprofit, sports and greeting card (humorous) markets. I've also been a Senior Technical Writer for over 5 years and spent several years writing ad, marketing, and sales copy.I was a Lutheran pastor for 15 years. Half of those years I spent at Augsburg Publishers, the publishing house of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), starting out as an editor for adult education materials, then moving on to developing software products for the church (electronic bible and companion study books). The other seven and a half years I spent as a pastor at two different churches, the first working with youth and education, the second in charge of adult education, where we offered over 40 classes, many of which I developed and wrote and taught myself.I'm currently the owner of DeForest Press, which I've been part of for over ten years. About half the books we publish traditionally, paying royalties to the authors. We also help people self-publish their own books through Fox Creek Press.
