Sharon Elwell is a retired teacher who is so old that she has taught every grade in California public schools, from preschool to community college. She's written memoirs of her teaching life: No Blue Ribbons and Caught in the Middle. She's published a series of ESL teaching materials, Free and Cheap Materials for Teaching ESL, available on Amazon. She's published three books of historical fiction for middle elementary students learning about California history: Jeremy and the Wappo, Jeremy and the General, (about her hero, Mariano Vallejo), and Gold Rush Girl, the story of the famous child performer, Lotta Crabtree. Until she retired in July, 2015, she was the owner of The Write Spot, a nonprofit used bookstore in Coalinga, California. Profits from the sale of her books supported ESL, citizenship, and GED classes for adults working to complete their education.
