Interesting twist on a difficult topic. I felt that Oakley's mutism was believable and I loved Jasper and Cole for their appropriate response to her. This books ends in a pretty terrible way, so be prepared to have the next book ready!

I could easily connect with the characters...
Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories
This is a tough subject both for an author to write about and a reader to tackle without getting too upset on behalf of the character who is the abuse victim. There were quite a few moments that rang true but for me the fact that it took 11 years to resolve was just too much glossing over by Oakley'...
