I love Robotech, but this relaunch has a bit too much going in the deep end before you really get swimming. If you have seen the series or the comics, then you should be fine and know what is going on. (you might not care, as I did). But if you are new to Robotech, this is not for you.
I should also point out how amazing the cover is: it folds open in the middle to reveal a scene, like, inside Prime's head. I kept opening and closing it and was like 'this is brilliant!!!' So I was distracted by shiny hijinks. And then I started reading and was like 'whaaat?' I finally opene...
Spotlight Galvatron I found this one confusing. I mean, I got what happened, but the other Spotlights were more clear in where they stood in the overall universe, or at least felt more self-contained. I also wasn't digging the art as much on this one as many others. Spotlight Blaster Blaste...
Two miniseries - I think? - and then a bunch of Spotlights. All the Spotlights were either weird or depressing or some mixture of both. Even Ramjet's at the end; I remembered how sad I was when I first read it, but, aw, man... reading it again was somehow harder. Because I knew it was coming a...
This collection has a phase two, starting with the sister series More Than Meets the Eye (MTMtE) and Robots in Disguise (RiD). It also had series like Till All Are One, the Windblade series - the miniseries and short series that was supposed to be an ongoing from what I understand - and some non-c...
It's free here! I've read this before, but in a collection. (I own it that way and I wouldn't have reread it like this - but it came free on Comixology and I wanted to revisit this. I remember it being one of Furman's strongest Spotlights.) And it was. It was completely natural in progressi...
I guess because I own the issues now and I'm morbidly interested in what's happening to the TF universe. And I don't want to be that fan: "Oh, no, Optimus is dead and you've ruined Transformers forever!" "Oh, no, Transformers is going with animal alt modes now? You've ruined Transformers fore...
And that made this a little more enjoyable. I would still love to read the Classics volume 7, but it's not on Scribd, and I don't enjoy this series enough to buy it. I may check the library for it later, though. This volume also gets into a little bit of Cybertronian history that intrigues me:...
Every other Transformers book I read? I compare to you. Well, you and Exodus and the Covenant. And they all tend to fall short. This is a fun, nostalgic look at the beginning of Transformers - but it's not nearly as full and rich as the newer comics/continuities. And while this is fun to re...
One half star for the sexiness, one half star for the fact that it isn't, y'know, complete word salad. I don't know why I got this. I got kinda crazy during the Newbury Comics Black Friday sales. This was part of a three for twenty dollars graphic novel set. It wasn't worth it. Well, not...
