Because I'm unfamiliar with the style of the art, I spent way too much time staring at individual images trying to figure out what the hell it was. I was never able to sink into the book.
I don't know if I'll ever be into the Ramayana, but doing it from Sita's perspective made it more readable for me.
Chitrakar based her illustrations on the Chandrabati Ramayana, one of the few known retellings by women.The art is so, so, so gorgeous.Hanuman is clearly the awesomest and I don't understand why he spends so much time hanging out with that dick Rama.Please tell me there is love poetry about Trijatha...
