Took some pages for the book to grab me. If I'm honest, I'm pretty sure it was the chat with his war-buddy's wife, and as it happens, it is something of a key for the whole book. There was a promise there If I ever do finish it, though, I give you my word of honor: there won’t be a part for Frank...

I'm not sure how Vonnegut pulled this off. It was all over the fucking place. And it all worked. The whole time I was reading it, I had the feeling that I was reading something extraordinary. And I was.

2 1/2 stars. Kurt Vonnegut is undoubtedly a good writer. The trouble is, that I enjoyed the introduction where he was describing his own experiences much more than the bulk of the book where he told us Billy Pilgrim's story. Kurt himself is a more interesting person than Billy. Or maybe I just did...

BLUF: Pass on this classic.Um.. What?I’m not going to lie to you: I had to Google what makes this book so great. I still have no idea why it is popular. Maybe because it was a hit when it came out (for reasons unknown). Maybe it is because of the attempts to censor this book soon after. If you know,...

Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time. A veteran of World War II, an optometrist, and a survivor of an alien abduction, he travels back and forth through time. He opens a door into the past, closes his eyes and wakes up on another planet, has a nervous breakdown and discovers a two bit science fict...

Slogging through this book was like pulling teeth. Only occasionally was there a brief rest where it didn't hurt, before you went on to the next tooth.I know this novel is a BFD to a lot of people, and maybe I'm just lowbrow and don't get it...but you would have to pay me upwards of 5 figures to get...

I had somewhat mixed feelings about this book. I may be living under a rock, but I started reading it with absolutely no idea what it was about. I’m sure I read the synopsis at some point, months or years ago when I first decided I wanted to read it, but I didn’t remember it by the time I actually r...

The thing that really captivates me about Vonnegut's writing is its the simplicity. In fact it is almost as if he is writing a book aimed at a much younger audience (sort of the age where they don't need pictures but still require simple sentences and a limited vocabulary), that is until he starts t...
