Less happens in this, the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's trilogy, than in the preceding three, but it is funny and clever in true Adams' style. The story includes a new Earth and a love interest for Arthur Dent (one that sends them soaring into the clouds). Three bowls gifted by the missing dolphin...

This might be my favorite book from the series because it's relatively happy but maintains a baseline of melancholy. And the image of Arthur and Fenchurch flying around is one that I think of a lot.

Malheur...

I think I missed the point somewhere... What was this installment even about? And why were there so many plot holes?!
Philosophical Musings of a Book Nerd
When I first read this book I loved it namely because I happened to be a hopeless romantic and our protagonist, Arthur Dent, finally gets a girlfriend. Well, finally is probably not the best way to describe it because Adams does raise the possibility that Arthur may have had a relationship with Tril...

"Please excuse my friend," said Fenchurch to the startled waitress. "I think he's having a nice day at last." I've said it before...

Arthur Dent who doesn't want his house to be demolished by bulldozers, Vogons’ ship and their poems which nobody likes to hear and it works like a pen...

is there a tiny drop off in quality here? I sense it... so do some other reviewers. but goodreads as a whole only records a drop off from 4.18 to 4.02. hardly statistical collapse.Douglas Adams is by this book milking the franchise, and there are some great scenes, but the work as a whole isn't quit...

The fourth entry in the Hitchhiker's series is significantly different from the first three. Almost none of it takes place in space, it's missing major characters from the series like Zaphod and Trillian, and characters like Ford and Marvin have very little appearance time. The book is almost solely...

I’m not big into the vampire scene. Ok, I liked the Twilight books. Hell, I wanted my own Edward. I read all the books before I went and saw the first movie because I wanted to see what all the hype was. Since that series though, I haven’t been able to get into any type of vampire books. I read...
