Some good suggestions for my never ending to-read pile of books.

I found this book on Goodreads, my public library had it, so I borrowed it. I read some of the reviews and although many were negative, I decided I would give it a shot, as my opinion of a book doesn't always agree with reviews I have read. With this book, I probably should have listened to the re...

More Like A 4.5This is a really good book. I enjoyed every second of reading it and I will probably be re-reading it with similar relish. This is a personal memoir told through a year of reading a book a week. The blurb on the main page for this book focuses on the books she read but for me that was ...

A very cute, lite read that will have you laughing and nodding your head in agreement with author Sara Nelson. A self described "readaholic" attempts to read 52 books one book per week for a year. She writes about her journey of self discovery on how she tries to stick to a predetermined list. After...

I can't say exactly why I loved this book so much. Perhaps because it's the kind of book I've always wanted to write myself, but never thought anybody would be willing to read? I hadn't read too many of the books she mentioned, but would probably have loved the book even more if I had. As it was, I ...

An account of one woman’s attempt to chart her reading year. Interesting and fun read. I’d recommend skipping a chapter or two.

She starts out with a plan and a reading list, but quickly finds that circumstances can send her reading choic...

I borrowed this from UH Main Campus via a request. It was not particularly good. See my note on it in my blog: [http://gypsylibrarian.blogspot.com/2007/06/booknote-so-many-books-so-little-time.html]

I'm such a bookaholic that I will read just about any book ABOUT books, too. (Basbane's tales of book-love are some of my favorites.)This diary of a year's worth of reading by Sara Nelson came to me at just the right moment. I was between books with nothing to read, lost and lonely wandering throu...

Just what I needed, a book chock-full of book recommendations! Interesting format, more memoir than book review. Best line all year: "When things go right, I read. When they go wrong, I read more." I should have that tattooed on my forehead. Nelson's a good writer, and I think an honest one.
