4.5I love everything I read by her! :)
Eclectic Universe - Homeschooling Parent
Well-written, great characters, good plot. Just didn't punch my buttons. Ex-soldier, still suffering from battle trauma, takes over neglected estate, finds illegitimate daughter of previous owner and the mysterious cousin who looks after her. Male lead: Devlin St. Just, oldest but illegitimate son o...

The plot had promise but the execution failed. I adored Devlin. Emmie was a mess. Thankfully there was no lemonade but lots of tarts. The inanimate objects in these stories almost get more page time than actual plot provoked progression. The whole point of Emmie leaving never made its case on the pa...

Very enjoyable. Horses, men, and dogs add to any story.

Read it for the true depiction of people who care about one another struggling and negotiating with love and respect. Thoughtful people practicing compassion and consideration--how rare these days. Don't read for plot or pacing, but to spend time with genuine and good people.

3 1/2 stars. This sequel to [b:The Heir (Duke's Obsession, #1)|8696975|The Heir (Duke's Obsession, #1)(Windham, #1)|Grace Burrowes|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1283994386s/8696975.jpg|13569624] has many of the same virtues and flaws as that book. The main virtue is the affectionate, intimate tone: ...

This was so sweet. I loved the affection between all the siblings. Devlin was an awesome hero. I liked Emmie too. It had been awhile since I read The Heir (Duke's Obsession, #1), so I was a little lost with certain details in this book. All in all, that was okay. Recommend this series, but don...

I have to say that I feel almost exactly as I did about the first book in this series. I find that I really love Burrowes's heroes. Much like Gayle in the first book, Devlin is a decent, honorable man struggling with the aftermath of war. And much like the heroine of The Heir, I started out reall...

This was great until about the 75% mark. Then things went to heck. We end up with the same thing as the first book with the heroine being stubborn and clueless. The hero is slightly clueless, but the real problem is Emmie. She really becomes ridiculous and fairly unlikable by the end. It's a shame be...

Beautiful, beautiful story. Very angsty, heart-warming and emotional, but not at all icky-sweet - all of the main characters have enough flaws, astringency, humour and quirks to keep excessive sweetness at bay. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves straight character-driven historical rom...
