I'm trying to distance myself from the cultural and time differences I experienced and still, as much as try to, I cannot really say I liked the book. This book wasn't bad but I didn't enjoy it. It's well-written and not boring or anything but I didn't like either the subject matter or the characters. There wasn't a single person I could relate to or that I remotely enjoyed reading about. This does make me want to try another book by Tanizaki thou...
