Really sweet. I actually rather liked Michael, even from the beginning. His transformation was really stunning. I felt like the different elements really worked; nothing seemed contrived for the sake of melodrama or angsty for the sake of angst.
My problem with child sexual abuse here is double, but the author deals with it in a matter-of-fact way and not in a emo bullshit way, so the discomfort, for me, was minimal.
