Sigh ... Lowry, why did you keep writing sequels to a book that never needed any sequels?I found Gathering Blue to be somewhat lackluster, Messenger to be pretty awful ... and for a while, I thought this one might actually be different. Maybe not different enough to redeem the whole series, but at l...
Sadly I don't have much to say about this one. If you haven't read the prior books you won't understand what I mean because each book is so different. This one wasn't quite what I had hoped for the finale of the series. It did a pretty good job of tying everything up but it wasn't very exciting. Wel...
Ties up a lot of lose ends, expands what the world Jonas and Gabe came from was like using Gabe's birth mother. Left me wanting to know more about what happens next, I wanted to see Einar back in Claire's life.
I only gave it 4 stars because Book II of this book spends too much time describing how hard she climbs the mountain. But few plots were introduced in this process and made this part kind of dull. But the overall story of mother Claire finding his son Gabe is very touching and heart-warming.

I ended up reading the entire Giver Quartet (The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, Son) almost one right after the other and found that what I wanted to say for each book was so similar that it made more sense to just put all four books in the same review rather than repeat myself. Each book focus...
I read this book because I just had to know the ending. I felt like Gathering Blue and Messenger were interim books for this fourth one. I couldn't just stop at three and be 75% of the way done with a series. I've made it this far - might as well keep going. I'm not exactly sure where to start, so w...
