Unfortunately, I don't. The prose is verbose. There were too many thoughts and not enough tension to get me hooked. I ploughed on anyway because I was already halfway into the novel. Son of the Shadows tells the story of a young chieftan’s daughter, who falls in love with a heavily tattooed kill...
Although this is the second book in the Sevenwaters series, it's not completely necessary to read the first one (though I recommend it! I loved Daughter of the Forest and gave it 5 stars) as it's a different main character and a different set of circumstances, though some characters from the last bo...
I enjoyed this book when I read it some years ago. The first one was even better, I thought. But somehow it didn't leave me interested in reading any of the other books of the series.
It is, for some reason, extraordinarily difficult for me to explain my feelings concerning this novel. Son of the Shadows is, as all the reviews proclaim, a worthy follow-up to Daughter of the Forest. In fact, both novels are so vastly different that it is practically impossible to compare them and,...
Beautifully written, but not as powerful as Daughter of the Forest. All the really compelling parts were about Sorcha and her contemporaries. On the bright side, I don't feel like I need trauma counseling this time.
So impressed was I with Sorcha in Daughter of the Forest that I jumped into the sequel with not a glance at the summary. Granted it’s taken me took 2 months before doing so. So, Why the gap if it indeed was that awesome? Simply, it was so intricately plotted my brain reeled; the people in it so real...
Normally I love Marillier, but I really hated this book. I didn't like Liadan, didn't like Bran, and didn't really much like the plot, either. (The over-arching plot was okay, but on a micro-level, a lot of the events that happened were either dull or annoyed me.)I'm glad I read the Sevenwater serie...
{Spoilers}This book was 4 stars until near the end where Liadan saves Bran who has a fatal head wound, using love. Then the next day and the days after he's all good again, barely ill at all. Miracle! Sigh. I know this is fantasy and magical but it still needs to be believable. Emotional healing doe...
I should of named myself "sucky reviews" on GR but I'm vain enough to not want to be known as that lol. When writing a review, I am at a loss if the book is amazing. If I'm reading a series and mowing through it because it is so good it's hard for me to stop and write a review because I just want to...
I devoured this book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop, and I finished the book in about fifteen hours with breaks in between. It made me wonder why it took me so long to read this second installment to the Sevenwaters series, though the answer came to me pretty quickly as I was reading....
