The Reading Perusals of Rose Summers
Quick review for a quick read. "Saving Red" was written entirely in verse, something that one would find similar to authors like Ellen Hopkins who write YA fiction in verse that deals with tough subjects. However, Sonya Sones's "Saving Red" is a much lighter toned novel than Hopkins' works despite i...

when you hear about a book of half-minute horrors for children, you kinda just shrug your shoulders and decide that you'll read it as a quick, easy filler in between books, right? but here's the thing: you're wrong. this book was absolutely not a buffer. it was actually creepy - and i say this as so...

I’ve become a fan of Sonya Sones writing in the last year or so after reading What My Mother Doesn’t Know and following it up with What My Girlfriend Doesn’t Know. I’ve read most of Sones’ work, and like the rest of her books, To Be Perfectly Honest takes some time to draw you in, then hits you unex...

Sophie is a 14 year old girl who is falling in love at the rate of a normal teenage girl which is about as fast as a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. While in her cocoon she experiences an unabashed realization that love is more than looks & popularity. Sophie is falling in love with the idea of ...

3.5 starsI had this stupid grin on my face after reading this. This is my second novel in a verse this year, the first one being Burned by Ellen Hopkins. Although it is far from how heartbreaking Burned was, this book is charming and magnetic. Definitely a comfort quick read.

This book's intention was to shatter and ruin the sweetness of the first book, its very cute ending, and how adorably Sophie sees Robin. This book cracked me up it's funny how accurate Meg Cabot's blurb was. But it wass also capable of making me sad (I shed tears), and mad that I literally hurled th...

The Night Before College is a clever little book using "The Night Before Christmas" poem as the rhythm for "The Night Before College." It tells the tale of the agony of SATs, Common Applications, FAFSAs, and of waiting to hear if one got in to the school of one's choice. After the acceptance, it mov...

I really enjoyed this one (: It was short and sweet, but yet hold a lasting impression. It was written in a verse kind of writing style which makes the writing more blunt and straightforward. I love how Robin and Sophie's relationship, how it seems impossible for Sophie is popular well Robin aka M...

Sonya Sones grew to be one of my (recent) favorite authors after I read What My Mother Doesn’t Know, and soon after, What My Girlfriend Doesn’t Know. I went out and bought all her books after I read those two. But what I didn’t expect is that Stop Pretending, Sones’ first book, is an even better boo...

This book kept me on my toes and I loved every second of it. This novel was written in verse which made it a quick and easy read. I would recommend this book mostly to young adult readers, but I only regret putting off reading it for so long. Read the full review at: http://theprincessgummybearrevie...
