When her dear old Granddad -the Grim Reaper himself- goes missing, Susan takes over the family business. The progeny of Death's adopted daughter and his apprentice, she shows real talent for the trade. That is until a little string in her heart goes "twang."With a head full of dreams and a pocketful of lint, Imp the Bard lands in Ankh-Morpork, yearning to become a rock star. Determined to devote his life to music, the unlucky fellow soon finds that all his dreams are coming true. Well almost. In this finger-snapping, toe-tapping tale of youth, Death, and rocks that roll, Terry Pratchett once again demonstrates the wit and genius that have propelled him to the highest echelons of parody next to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. This is an alternate cover edition of ISBN 0-06-105489-5 (ISBN-13: 978-0-06-105489-1)

4.0 Soul Music
Not laugh-out-loud funny, but good in its way. A suitably odd look at music causing the youth (and not so youthful) of Ankh-Morpork to get a bit carried away.A good selection of characters, with some nice in-jokes.

3.0 Review: Soul Music (Discworld Book 18 of 53ish)
Every now and then, we get one of those “real world stuff bleeds into the Discworld” books. For example, Moving Pictures involved, as you might guess, a sudden discovery of and obsession about movies. With a Discworld flare, of course. Those books are the ones I seem to enjoy the least. Soul Mus...

4.0 Soul Music by Terry Pratchett
Discworld #16 Having initially read the Discworld books completely out of order, I’m not sure how much of the plot and backstory I should be giving away here. This is the first book with Susan, and it’s basically about how Rock ‘n’ Roll comes to the Discworld. Of course, since this is the Discwo...

3.5 An Unfortunate Mixture of Good and Bad
The Disc is experiencing some supernatural change as Death becomes existential and music gets itself some soul. “Soul Music”, the 16th installment of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, focuses once on Death along with his family and a professional colleague as they deal with him letting off his du...
