Without a morsel of exaggeration, its publisher describes this debut novel as "a comedy of manners set in Victorian London full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking." At the center of Soulless's "parasol protectorate" is Miss Alexia Tarabotti, a young woman who lacks not only a suitor but also a soul. And those are not her only problems: When she accidentally kills a vampire, it begins a series of events that she must set out to resolve without the help of any proper authorities. A charming mass market original.

Emily Gray performs the various voices convincingly – men and women from various countries and with multiple styles of accents. The jokes, inner monologue obs...

This is going to be a series review for Soulless, Changeless, Blameless, Heartless, and Timeless. Spoilers ahead. Probably. Instead of waiting years to see the Parasol Protectorate series to its conclusion, I've had the pleasure of reading all five books almost back to back within the space of few s...

4.0 Soulless (Parasol Protectorate Series #1)
The Parasol Protectorate is a new to me Steampunk/Paranormal series that introduces one of the funniest characters I’ve read in a long time: The Soulless Alexis Tarabotti. Alexis is thus designated because she is essentially without a soul and her ability to negate the powers of the supernatural ...
