*** Revenge of the Cootie Girls *** Robin and her friends--fun-filled Tamayo; bald, tattooed Sally; sensible Claire; and innocent Kathy--decide on a girls' night out for Halloween. Then Kathy calls to say she's trapped in a married man's closet. Robin and crew set off to rescue her, but first they must complete a strange scavenger hunt that triggers memories of Robin's growing-up years in Minnesota, when she and her best friend were ridiculed as class misfits ("cootie girls"). By the end of the evening, Robin and her pals have taken a trip down Memory Lane, found a dead body, broken up a money-laundering ring, and rescued Kathy from certain corruption.
*** Nice Girls Finish Last *** Robin Hudson, the renegade, investigative reporter of What's a Girl Gotta Do? Her boss at the All News Network (ANN) orders her to investigate the alleged sadomasochistic connections of a gynecologist who was murdered in the ANN building. Instead, Robin concentrates on the murder itself. She rankles at suppressing her true nature, but succeeds in uncovering the perpetrator's treacherousness.
*** What's A Girl Gotta Do? *** Robin observes Burke and Amy billing and cooing at the network's New Year's Eve party at a Manhattan hotel just before a stranger slips her a page from a PI report on herself and suggests she go to room 13D. No one answers at 13D and Robin suspects a prank until news breaks that a PI was bludgeoned to death in that room and that Robin was the last one seen in the area. She begins investigating on her own, while folks around ANN turn edgy: some shared an acquaintance with the PI that was more intimate than congenial. Someone breaks into Robin's apartment, leaving her to relish the one bright spot in her life--the sudden interest of good-looking producer Eric Slansky.
