A library read and a re-read; the first time I read it was when we were living in Norway and my dad brought a copy back from the library. "I thought you might like it," he said, one of those uncanny times when someone gets you exactly right. Because, let's be clear, Special Topics in Calamity Phys...

I liked this. It would've been better if it was shorter, because I felt I had to trudge through hundreds of pages of literary/cinematic/cultural allusions, mentions of this or that obscure reference book, and bits of wisdom courtesy of the main character's scholarly Dad (some of these were amusing, ...

Special Topics in Calamity Physics is a puzzle, a Rubik's Cube of a story created by Puzzlemaster Marisha Pessl. You receive all the information needed to solve the puzzle throughout your reading, but it's not until the end, when each side of the cube is perfectly constructed, that you see the Blind...

**This review may contain some slight spoilers, because I don't know how to write about this book without hinting at some things. You've been warned.**I have so many questions! So this is ostensibly a murder mystery, sort of, but it's unlike anything remotely related to that genre that I've ever read...
